MIL-STD-464
MIL-STD-464 is a military standard that defines electromagnetic environmental effects, interface requirements, and verification criteria for air, sea, space, and ground systems, including munitions.
MIL-STD-464 covers requirements established for the acquisition of integrated platforms—either new or modified—such as launch vehicles, submarines, ships, spacecraft, ground vehicles, and aircraft.
The primary objective of the standard is to ensure electromagnetic compatibility across all subsystems within a platform and to verify that equipment and safety-critical functions are not adversely affected by internal or external electromagnetic influences. This verification aims to confirm, prior to operational use, that systems remain compatible both internally and with the surrounding electromagnetic environment.
MIL-STD-464 also requires verification activities to address the full system life cycle, including normal in-service operation as well as storage, transportation, handling, packaging, loading, unloading, start-up, and standard operating procedures.
